The Pentagon has released its seventh batch of declassified files concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs, revealing reports of unusual aerial objects, unexplained radar signals and bizarre encounters investigated over several decades.
The 28 newly released documents include an account of a silent black triangular object spotted above a sensitive U.S. location, a mysterious radar contact involving a B-52 bomber, historical sightings off the California coast and an investigation into extraordinary claims made at a Utah ranch.
The White House announced the latest release with the message, “New UFO Release.” However, the Pentagon emphasized that the documents do not constitute evidence of extraterrestrial spacecraft. While some incidents remain unexplained, others have been attributed to conventional causes.
One of the most recent reports concerns an incident in June 2026 at an undisclosed location in the western United States associated with national security.
According to the account, two federal agents observed a matte-black triangular object that appeared to climb almost vertically above a ridge before stopping and hovering in place. The object then reportedly accelerated rapidly toward a nearby canyon.
The agents said they heard no engine noise, rotor sounds or other indications of air movement. They also reported seeing no exhaust system, windows or visible cockpit.
The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) concluded that the incident required further investigation but did not identify the object or determine what type of craft it might have been.
B-52 Bomber Crew Tracks Unidentified Radar Signal in 1957
The newly declassified material also includes a U.S. Air Force report from 1957 describing an unusual radar contact involving a B-52 bomber flying over Saudi Arabia.
The aircraft’s crew detected an unidentified object on radar and tracked the signal for approximately five to seven minutes.
According to the report, the radar return was smaller than the signal produced by another B-52 operating in the same area. Investigators did not provide a definitive explanation for the contact.
California Coast Sightings Date Back to the Late 1940s
Four additional documents concern reported UFO sightings near Santa Catalina Island, off the coast of California, between 1949 and 1955.
In 1949, three observers described a silver-colored object that allegedly moved faster than the jet aircraft of the era and produced no audible noise.
Another account, from 1953, involved a witness who reported seeing a round object displaying purple and white colors. The object was said to have hovered over Catalina for approximately 10 minutes.
Not every sighting in the collection remained unexplained. In connection with an incident reported in 1955, the U.S. Air Force assessed that the object was most likely a meteor.
Utah Ranch Investigation Included Reports of Glowing Spheres and Strange Creatures
Among the most unusual documents is a 2010 report examining claims made at a ranch in Utah.
The investigation was conducted by Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies on behalf of the U.S. defense intelligence community.
Witnesses described seeing glowing spheres, unidentified flying objects and unusual creatures. Some accounts referred to large, wolf-like beings known as “Skinwalkers,” which were allegedly seen moving on two legs, as well as smaller, furry creatures.
One man claimed that a glowing red sphere approached his face to within a few centimeters. He subsequently reported experiencing heat, ringing in his ears and temporary numbness.
Investigators attempted to gather evidence by installing cameras, measuring electromagnetic signals and collecting hair samples from the area.
Analysis of some of the samples identified canine mitochondrial DNA, indicating that at least some of the unusual traces had an ordinary animal origin.
The findings do not establish an explanation for every claim made at the ranch, but they demonstrate how investigators attempted to test at least some of the reported evidence rather than relying exclusively on witness accounts.
Cold War Documents Addressed Aircraft Recovery Procedures
The release also includes documents from the 1960s outlining procedures for U.S. authorities in the event that they discovered wreckage from American or foreign aircraft.
Such material might initially appear connected to claims about crashed UFOs. However, the documents concern aircraft recovery and the technological rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War space race.
They do not confirm that American authorities recovered extraterrestrial spacecraft or discovered technology of extraterrestrial origin.
What the Latest UFO Files Actually Reveal
Some incidents remain unresolved, while others have received conventional explanations. The Utah ranch investigation, for example, produced evidence that at least some collected traces came from dogs, while the 1955 California sighting was assessed as likely involving a meteor.
The distinction is important: an unidentified phenomenon is not automatically evidence of an extraterrestrial presence. In many cases, the available records describe what witnesses reported without providing enough information to establish precisely what they observed.
The newly released files offer additional material for researchers examining unexplained aerial sightings and the history of government investigations. However, the Pentagon’s position remains clear: the documents do not establish that extraterrestrial visitors or spacecraft have been discovered.
