Thomas Markle Jr., Meghan Markle’s brother, has come under scrutiny in the Philippines as authorities investigate an alleged child pornography case.
Investigators are examining whether the 60-year-old had any involvement in the alleged offenses after witnesses reportedly told police that underage girls had been brought to his home. Philippine officials have confirmed that Markle Jr. is considered a person of interest, although he has not been formally named as a suspect.
Philippine Interior Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla confirmed that authorities are looking into possible links between Thomas Jr. and the alleged criminal activity.
“There are indications that the boy may also be involved in the crime. But, for now, he is only a person of interest and is not yet being treated as a suspect,” Remulla said.
According to the minister, witnesses told police that underage girls had been brought to the home where Thomas Jr. was living in the Philippines.
He has reportedly offered his own explanation to authorities about what was happening at the property. He told officials that he was “only recording videos for TikTok” inside the house.
In an unusual twist, Thomas Jr. was previously the person who raised allegations against his own father, Thomas Markle Sr.
He had reportedly accused his father of keeping material involving the sexual abuse of children at his property, bringing the family’s private disputes into an investigation that has since attracted international attention.
On November 3, Philippine police announced that suspected child sexual abuse material had been discovered among computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices seized from a residence in Cebu.
The investigation has also extended beyond the Philippines. Mexican authorities reportedly searched a former warehouse belonging to Thomas Markle Sr. in Rosarito following reports that explicit photographs and magazines containing images of underage girls had been discovered.
However, the allegations against the two men remain separate matters, and authorities have not publicly established the extent of any connection between them.
Thomas Markle Sr. has acknowledged paying for sexual encounters with adult women while in the Philippines. However, he has firmly denied having any involvement with underage girls or possessing child sexual abuse material.
